Reboot of the Rotaract Club at Suleyman Demirel University

We have great news. Rotary Club Almaty has relaunched the Rotaract Youth Club, which operated in Almaty under our patronage from 2009 to 2019 – with a break for the coronacrisis.

And so, following the results of the recent RYLA - 2022 (Rotary Youth Award for Youth Leadership), held on the basis of Suleiman Demirel University in April of this year, the first organizational meeting with the winners of RYLA was held. These select guys will form the backbone of the revived Rotaract Club.

Recall that "Rotaract is a program of the public organization Rotary International, aimed at working with young people. Uniting young people from 18 to 30 years old, which is established and supervised by the Rotary Club. Rotaract's motto is "Friendship through service to society". Almaty Rotaract Club was noted for a number of very useful and noble actions - the collection of donor blood in 2017, assistance in holding RYLA 2018, participation in numerous eco-subbotniks and plogging, distribution of charitable assistance to the needy of various segments of Almaty residents - pensioners, veterans, large families, low-income countrymen.

Rotaract is the preliminary step in the Rotary Club: it is from rotarators that ideal Rotarians are obtained. Rotaract is also a powerful social elevator for young people, a unique networking platform that unites promising young people who are just beginning to enter adulthood with established leaders in their industries - businessmen, politicians, managers, scientists - in a word, the best of the best, regardless of citizenship.

It is very gratifying that the curators of the new Rotarakta were Gulshat Nurpeisova - a social entrepreneur, public figure, civil activist, coach and Stepan Shramko - the founder of Rotarakt in KZ in 2009, who recently joined the team of our Club.

On April 29, our first meeting with the future leaders of the Rotaract Club, who most clearly showed themselves at the RYLA trainings, took place on the SDU campus. Now such meetings will become regular and we are waiting for a lot of joint (and not only) good deeds. A start has been made.

Today, there are about 11 thousand rotaract clubs in the world, uniting 204 thousand rotaractors in 180 countries and the network continues to grow. And our club intends to make every effort so that the best representatives of Kazakhstani youth get their chance to find a worthy place in the world, their corner of happiness for the benefit of all. Our District 2430 will open a Chartered New Rotaract club within SDU University. Stay tuned!
